Mukwonago, Wis. — The Mukwonago Area School District is responding to a reported threat made by a Rolling Hills Elementary School student involving a weapon and the last day of school, according to a message sent to parents by Principal Dr. Ron Schlicht on Tuesday afternoon.

The threat was promptly reported to teachers, who quickly alerted both school and district administrators. The Town of Mukwonago Police Department is now actively investigating the situation in coordination with school officials.
While specific details of the threat have not been disclosed publicly, the district confirmed that the student responsible is facing disciplinary action. “I can confirm that appropriate consequences will be applied,” Dr. Schlicht stated. The school district has committed to following its established disciplinary procedures, which may include suspension or expulsion, depending on the outcome of the investigation.
Increased security measures have already been put in place. Rolling Hills Elementary will have an elevated police presence for the remainder of the academic year to ensure the safety of students and staff.
“The safety of our students and staff is our district’s highest priority,” said Dr. Schlicht. “We are taking strong steps to ensure a safe and normal school day tomorrow and on the final day of the school year in June.”

Mukwonago School Board President Dale Porter also addressed the situation, offering reassurance to families in the district. “My daughter goes to Rolling Hills, and I can assure you that everything is being handled properly and in accordance to our policy,” Porter said. “My daughter will be in school tomorrow because I have zero concerns.”

Dr. Schlicht emphasized the seriousness with which the district treats all threats, regardless of intent. “Please talk to your children about the importance of following school rules and the serious consequences of not doing so,” he wrote to families. “Students who engage in these types of activities, in a serious or joking manner, can and will face school and legal consequences.”
The district expressed gratitude to the Town of Mukwonago Police Department for its swift response and ongoing support.
