Mukwonago, WI – A vehicle crash that damaged the Mukwonago Dollar General storefront on Easter Sunday will not result in criminal charges. Mukwonago Police have also confirmed there were no injuries as a result of the crash.
At 6:47 p.m. on April 20, 2025, Mukwonago police responded to a crash at the Mukwonago Dollar General store after a vehicle collided with the building. The driver, a 57-year-old female, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with law enforcement.
According to Mukwonago Police Chief Daniel Streit, the driver mistakenly thought her foot was on the brake. Instead, it was on the accelerator. As a result, her vehicle surged forward from her parking spot and struck the storefront. The collision caused noticeable damage to the building’s exterior. By the next morning, officials had already secured the scene with plywood and caution tape.

Police confirmed no injuries at the scene and determined that drugs and alcohol were not factors. The driver voluntarily took a personal breathalyzer test, which showed a 0.00 result. Officers released her after their investigation.
Police did not file criminal charges but did issue the driver a citation for “failure to maintain control of her vehicle“. Her car sustained minor damage, and she drove the vehicle from the scene.

The crash led the store to close for about a week as crews repaired the damaged storefront. As of this week, Dollar General has reopened, and no further structural issues have been reported.
Mukwonago Police chose not to release the driver’s name, and WCW is also respecting her privacy by withholding her identity. With no injuries and full cooperation at the scene, police have officially closed the investigation.
